Here for sale we have a modified Fender Strat Plus in Vintage White finish. Made in the USA in 1997, this guitar is part of Fender's Strat Plus series, which was introduced in 1987 after having been developed in conjunction with Jeff Beck. Beck had requested a special guitar be made for an upcoming tour of his in Japan. This guitar went through several iterations before becoming the Jeff Beck Signature Stratocaster, whilst some of the features became part of the Strat Plus line. Beck was often seen playing a Strat Plus live even after the release of his signature model.
Of course, a bolt on construction is employed, and comprises an Alder body, Maple neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted, including a 2-point tremolo bridge and LSR Roller nut. Modifications to the guitar include Black block saddles and Fender Staggered Locking tuning machines. The pickups have also been changed to a set of Fender American Standard Stratocaster single-coils, and are wired to a 5-way blade switch, master volume and neck tone controls, whilst the original middle/bridge TBX control has been changed for a middle/bridge no-load tone control.
The Maple neck plays very well, with the ‘C’ profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip across the register. Certainly larger than some of Fender’s more modern necks, there is plenty of character to the playing experience without delving into the realm of cumbersome or unwieldy. The Rosewood of the fretboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its traditional 9.5” radius is practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques. Medium Jumbo frets enhance the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques, whilst the locking tuners and LSR roller nut improve tuning stability.
The trio of American Standard Stratocaster single-coil pickups installed in this instrument deliver traditional Strat sounds by the bucketload, with all of the spank, ‘honk’ and bite that you would expect from a Stratocaster. The neck is warm and round, and provides plenty of power to drive your lead and solo tones to the front of the mix. The middle is bright and clear, working exceptionally well on funky sounds. The bridge is of course hotter, and can handle a surprising amount of gain on your rock rhythm parts and riffs. The controls are largely traditional Stratocaster, and deliver plenty of versatility. The addition of the no-load tone control is a welcome upgrade which operates as a normal tone from 1-9, and completely removes it from the circuit at 10 to send the full unfettered signal from your pickup straight to the output. A tastefully modified example of a well-regarded model in Fender’s history.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition. The edges of the headstock demonstrate indentation around the perimeter, most notably to the top edge where scuff marks are also present. The front face demonstrates similar indentation around the high E and B string tuning machines. Light scratching to the rear face is visible under direct light.
Neck: Overall very good condition. The rear of the neck demonstrates very light indentation inconsistently throughout the register, most notably behind the 6th fret. This can very slightly be felt under the thumb but does not affect the overall playability of the instrument.
Body: Overall very good condition. A moderate indentation chips the finish at the bottom edge and exposes the wood. All aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching and infrequent very light indentation, visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. This is most notable inside the treble side cutaway, near to the neck pocket.
Condition of Frets:
The frets demonstrate notable signs of use, with mild denting in the early frets and flattening throughout the register. Some very light buzzing is present in the upper register of the 1st & 2nd strings, which may be resolved by a level and recrown. There is moderate material remaining for future fret work.
