Here for sale we have a Gibson CL-20 Standard Plus electro-acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Built in the USA in 1999, this guitar features a Solid Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, Mahogany neck and 20 fret Abalone Snowflake inlaid Rosewood fingerboard with matching Moustache bridge. This guitar is fitted with a set of Nickel Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, and a Tusq nut and compensated saddle. A Transducer pickup is installed which is activated once the guitar is plugged in.
 
The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a profile resembling a ‘C’ feeling quick and comfortable in the hand and providing ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant to the touch and adds a real sense of luxury to the playing experience which is further enhanced by the attractive Abalone Snowflake inlays. The 12" radius provides a familiar Gibson feel and consistent playing surface right the way up the register which is highly practical for a wide range of genres and playing styles. The slimmer waist similar to a Gibson Songwriter body design fills the arms nicely, and provides a lively and responsive playing experience with a sound that can really be felt. 
 
The acoustic voice of the CL-20 is clear and punchy, with a warm low end, tight mids and an articulate top end, all without sounding overly bright. This combination of balanced sounds comes together to create a deep, rich and full-bodied tone that is highly responsive to your playing. The Solid Spruce top projects very well and offers a wide dynamic range. Playing gently produces warm, mellow sounds with the intimate tone needed for those quiet moments. Putting some snap and power behind your right hand rewards you with the powerful booming tones this guitar is capable of. The Transducer pickup faithfully conveys the acoustic voice of the instrument and adds the versatility required for live and recording situations.

    Aesthetic Condition:

    Headstock: Overall very good condition. On the tip of the headstock a light indentation is present, this does not break through the finish. Above the nut lacquer chipping is present to the finish, this does not affect the structure of the guitar. On the back face of the headstock near the serial number, light impressions are present where a clip on tuner has been attached, this can only be seen under direct light. On the treble side of the nut delamination is present to the lacquer, this can not be felt in the playing position.

    Neck: Overall very good condition. Light scratching is present to the rear of the neck, only visible under direct light from certain angles. This is most noticeable to the mid register and can not be felt under the thumb in playing position.

    Body: Overall very good condition. Light scratching is present to the front face, rear face and side edges, only visible under direct light from certain angles. This is most noticeable across the rear face. Denting is present to the rear face and side edges showing some cracking to the finish towards the corner of the side edges both sides. The finish to the centre of the lower bout side edge has cracked along the binding from the front to the rear. This can be felt under the fingers. On the lower bout edge near the strap button two small cracks are present to the Black binding, these can be felt under the fingers. On the treble side of the soundhole light markings are present where the pickguard used to be placed, this can only be seen under direct light. Light signs of delamination can be seen in several spots of the body, most notably on the rear face where the body meets the neck. 

     

    Condition of Frets:

    The frets demonstrate very light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

     

    Current Set Up:

    Truss Rod: Fully functional & adjustable. No truss rod tool included (socket 5'16")

    Hardware: fully functional. The tuning machines display light signs of oxidation. The original pickguard has been removed by the original owner, the pickguard displays signs of wrapping.

    Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

    Strings on Guitar - 11-52

    Height of string from 12th Fret- Treble 2mm - Bass 2.5mm
