Here for sale we have an absolutely stunning Gibson ES-135 in Vintage Sunburst finish. First introduced in 1956, the ES-135 is reminiscent of the revered ES-175 however features a thinner body and a centre block to help eliminate unwanted feedback. Manufactured in the USA in 1996, this guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a semi-hollow body with Laminated Maple Back and sides, Solid Maple top, along with a Spruce centre block. The neck is a 3-piece Maple construction, and is topped with a 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Trapeze tailpiece, along with Kluson style tuning machines with Keystone buttons. A pair of Gibson P-100 stacked humbucking pickups are installed, these are wired to a 3-way toggle switch and independent controls for volume and tone.
The Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with the Rounded profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial grip across the register without being at all cumbersome. The neck carve might be described as a 'D' shape which provides a nicely flattened area to the centre, encouraging ergonomic thumb positioning for easy reach across the 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. With a traditional 12" radius, the fingerboard is highly practical for both chordal and melodic playing styles, whilst the Florentine cutaway enhances access to the upper register. The slightly slimmer body in comparison to a traditional ES style guitar further assists the excellent playability of this instrument.
The tone of the ES-135 is extremely versatile, with the pair of P-100 stacked humbuckers resembling the P-90 aesthetically but providing a completely different flavour tonally. The P-100 pickups can offer anything from dark and moody jazz by rolling down the tone control in the neck position, whilst both pickups deliver enough power to drive your amp into a saturated distortion for gritty blues and even heavy rock sounds. The Laminated construction with Spruce centre block ensures that unwanted feedback is kept at bay - something that can be a real issue with fully hollow-body guitars. The traditional independent volume and tone controls offer comprehensive control of your tone
