Here for sale we have a Gordon Smith Galaxy Hollow Body Electric Guitar in Gloss Natural finish. Made in the United Kingdom in 1998, this set-neck constructed guitar consists of a Ash//Mahogany and Maple Sides, a Quilted Maple top, and a 22 Medium Jumbo fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include a Brass nut, a Galaxy tailpiece with a Tune-O-Matic style bridge and a set of sealed tuning machines. The pickups are a pair of Gordon Smith humbuckers that are wired to a 3-way toggle switch, independent volume and tone controls with a coil split for each pick up on the volume controls.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with the 'D' profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial grip on chords, whilst remaining slim enough for fast articulate playing. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers and offers a smooth and durable playing surface right the way up the register. The 12" radius works in conjunction with the Medium Jumbo frets to provide a rock solid and nicely flat playing surface across the register, well suited to a wide range of styles.

The Gordon Smith humbucker in the neck position sounds thick and full, with a rich low end great for rhythm tonalities. The middle position provides a punchy, tight midrange great for chordal styles of playing whilst being able to cut through a mix. The Gordon Smith humbucker in the bridge position produces a clear and articulate top end, balancing very well with a punchy output,  providing a great feel and clarity, allowing the player to achieve a wide variety of tones all at the fingertips. The addition of independent coil splits adds the versatility of single-coil style tones for those softer sections.

    Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition, the front face demonstrates light scratching visible under direct lighting at certain angles.

Neck: Overall very good condition, the fingerboard demonstrates some scratching and indentation throughout the register. This is difficult to discern against the natural grain of the wood and cannot be felt under the finger in playing position.

Body: Overall excellent condition, all aspects of the body demonstrate inconsistent very light scratching and indentation, visible only under direct lighting at certain angles.

    Condition of Frets:

The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. Flattening of the frets is noticeable through the entire register. This is typical of a well played guitar from the 80s, and does not require any work for playability.
