Here for sale we have a Jackson USA Custom Shop Strat Body in Black Cherry finish. Built in the USA in 1987 during Jackson's heyday in San Dimas as an independent manufacturer of American made instruments. This instrument features a bolt-on construction comprising a Poplar body, Hard Rock Maple neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. The hardware is black, and includes a Kahler 2300 series Tremolo bridge, locking nut and Jackson tuning machines. The pickups are Jackson J-100 single coils, and are wired to a master volume, Active/Passive EQ switch, individual pickup switches and a 3-band EQ.

The Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with a flat and thin profile that feels fluid in the hand and lends itself well to more technical styles of playing. Paired with the 17" fingerboard radius and Jumbo frets, the neck feels razor sharp and articulate in all registers, making fretting a fast and easy affair. The familiar Strat Body design feels great in the arms, with generous body contouring ensuring comfort in both standing and seated positions, as well as ample fret access in the upper register.

The trio of J-1200 single coil pickups offer a versatile range of tones, with anything from bell-like, shimmery clean tones available, right through well as harmonically saturated distortion sounds. The control layout on this guitar offers the opportunity to combine the pickups in any configuration thanks to the individual pickups switches. The active/passive EQ switch engages the aftermarket 3-band EQ circuit installed by JayDee Electronics, giving you tone shaping-capabilities right on your guitar.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition, the tip of the headstock demonstrates light scuffing. The front face presents light yet consistent scratching, as is common with gloss finish. Considering its age, this instrument appears to have been meticulously maintained and only gently played.

Neck: Overall excellent condition, the rear of the neck presents very light discolouration behind the early frets. The fingerboard demonstrates very light markings.

Body: Overall very good condition, a chip to the edge of the bass side lower bout has been touched up to a high standard, but can still be seen in most light and felt with the finger. This is not visible from the front face of the instrument. The rear face demonstrates light buckle rash, particularly towards the control cavity. Otherwise, all aspects of the body demonstrate light yet consistent scratching, visible only at certain angles.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. There is moderate material remaining for any light fret work the new owner may wish to perform.
