Here for sale we have a very special Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature acoustic guitar in Gloss Natural finish. This signature model is based on the pre-war instrument that Clapton played on his iconic MTV Unplugged set in 1992; the album for which went on to become the best selling live album of all time. 
 
Echoing that guitar, this instrument features an all-solid construction comprising East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Spruce top, Genuine Mahogany neck and 20 fret Ebony fingerboard with matching bridge. The body is double bound in Ivoroid, whilst the top is handsomely adorned with Herringbone purfling and Rosette, along with a Tortoiseshell pickguard. A 'Zig-Zag' pattern multi-stripe back strip continues the ornamentation on the rear of the instrument. The fingerboard is inlaid with Abalone Diamond and Squares, along with an Awabi Eric Clapton signature at the 20th fret. The saddle and nut are Bone, and the tuning machines are Martin branded Nickel open-geared tuners with 'Butterbean' buttons. 
 
The Genuine Mahogany neck plays very well. This is a special premium feature for this model, as Martin typically spec their instruments with 'Select Hardwood'. The Modified 'V' profile is supremely comfortable, and in conjunction with the Volute delivers a suitably pre-war inspired playing experience. The shorter scale length of 24.9" lowers the tension of the strings just enough to facilitate expressive bending and vibrato techniques, whilst the luxurious Ebony surface of the fingerboard is radiused to 16" for comfortable chord playing and practicality for fingerstyle playing. 
 
The acoustic voice of the Martin 000-28ES is both rich and well balanced. The 000 body size has long been renowned for its clear, open and uniform response across all 6 strings. Striking the perfect balance between the strong bass response and volume of the dreadnought and the intimate, balanced sound of the Parlor, the tone is well suited to both chordal and melodic playing styles. The Spruce top projects beautifully, delivering ample volume and dynamic range whilst retaining clarity throughout. The East Indian Rosewood back and sides add a warmth and character to the sound which is well complemented by the brightness of the Spruce top. A beautifully made and lavishly appointed instrument, perfect for playing your favourite Clapton tunes or carving out your own unique sound.
