Here for sale we have a Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette Special Electric Guitar, refinished in Candy Apple Red. Made in the USA in 1996, this guitar features a bolt-on construction comprising an Alder body, Maple neck and 22-fret Maple fingerboard. Nickel hardware is fitted including a set of Gotoh tuning machines and a Music Man 6-saddle string-through-body bridge. A trio of Music Man single coil pickups are installed, and are wired to a 5-way blade switch and master volume and tone controls.
The Maple neck plays well, with the satin finish to the rear feeling pleasant to the touch and aiding in smooth movements up and down the neck. The profile might be described as an even 'C' shape, feeling comfortable across the register and allowing for fast runs and easy chord playing. The Alder body is small enough to feel comfortable and lightweight in any playing position whilst retaining a generous feel and well set out controls. The sculpted neck heel and tapered lower horn enhance access to the upper register.
Amplified, the trio of Music Man single-coil pickups deliver a wide range of tones, versatile enough for many genres. There is plenty of brightness in the neck pickup, with crisp open tones available with clean settings. The middle pickup is open and clear, being perfectly suited to bright funky rhythm tones with plenty of dynamic range. With the gain cranked, the bridge pickup offers a rich harmonic palette with full yet precise lows and excellent responsiveness in the upper mid and high end. The controls feel nicely responsive, allowing you to dial in your perfect tone in any setting.

Aesthetic Condition:
Headstock: Overall very good condition. The tip of the headstock shows mild indentation to the rear edge which does not pierce the finish. All aspects of the headstock show light scratching under direct light, as is common with high gloss finishes.
Neck: Overall very good condition. Moderate discoloration is apparent to the fingerboard through years of use, as is common with open-pore finish on Maple fingerboards. At the rear where the neck and headstock meet, there is a hard line visible where the finish changes from Gloss to Satin, possibly as a result of sanding by a previous owner. Very light indentation to the rear of the neck can be felt across the register but does not detract from the overall playability of the instrument.
Body: Overall good condition. The body has been refinished in Candy Apple Red. Please see ‘Further Notes’ below for more details. Light to mild chipping of the finish is found across the body, lightly revealing the previous Pearl Green finish. This is most notable to the rear face around the battery cavity, jack socket and lower strap button. A light crack in the finish runs from the battery cover to the bottom edge. Light scratching to all aspects of the body is visible under direct light, hazing the finish in some places. The pickguard shows light yellowing, consistent with an instrument of this age.
Condition of Frets:
The frets show moderate signs of use, not affecting playability. There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Further Notes:
This guitar has been re-finished at some stage by a previous owner. This is evidenced by the fact that the Music Man serial number decoder indicates that the colour should be Pearl Green, and that light chipping of the finish reveals a green colour underneath. The refinish has been carried out to a high standard, with even the cavities and non-visible aspects of the body having been painted.
