Made in the USA in 2020, this guitar consists of a Blackheart Sassafras top, Sapele back and sides, a Neo-Tropical Mahogany neck, and a 21-fret West African Crelicam Ebony fingerboard. Other features include T5z bracing, Taylor Satin Black tuners, a White Tusq nut, a White Micarta saddle, and a T5 pickup system with T5 Controls and a 5-way pickup selector.
 
The ‘Shallow’ ‘C’ neck sits comfortably in the hand, with low action that makes lead lines and chordal playing a breeze. The Medium Jumbo frets and 12" radius provide a robust and smooth playing experience all across the fingerboard, and enhance string bending and vibrato techniques. The single cutaway body design allows the player to access the higher register with ease, allowing for fast lead lines without any obstruction.
 
Unplugged, the guitar plays at a nice volume that isn’t too quiet and, thanks to the thinline nature of the instrument, still has plenty of resonance and breathiness. The T5Z is fitted with next-generation electronics with a 5-way pickup switch located on the side of the guitar to easily swap between your different sounds. The Taylor “lipstick” humbucker pickup, paired with the hidden humbucker under the top, provides really powerful electric guitar tones without distracting from the beauty of the guitar's acoustic aesthetic. The T5Z Body sensors are overwound to produce the dazzling highs that you would expect from an acoustic guitar preamp, making for a really authentic acoustic tone.
